I’ve known Akjemal for many years, both in her capacity as a senior United Nations diplomat and now as a professional coach. Having become her client and experienced several sessions, I can confidently say Akjemal possesses an extraordinary talent. It’s as if everything she touches blossoms and bears fruit. This, truly, reflects my journey with her. She is a skilled miner, working to bring out the gold within you, sometimes hidden in the darkest places, and making you shine.

Over the course of my 26 years in leadership, I’ve gained significant experience, but working with Dr Akjemal has been a game-changer. As the business owner, leading a team of over 80 staff and driving transformative changes to enhance production line efficiency, visibility, and business expansion is no easy feat. Leadership can often feel like a lonely journey, and having Akjemal by my side has been invaluable.

The sessions I had so far were truly a mind-blowing experience. The way Dr Akjemal guided me through the journey allowed me to unlock a completely new perspective, one that I didn’t even realize I needed. My first session was eye-opening and deeply immersive! Dr Akjemal is an effective leader of multicultural teams, able to facilitate and drive positive change in even the most challenging of circumstances. She is an expert in health policy and programming with top-tier skills in diplomacy, leadership, coaching, and stakeholder relations including government relations. She can adeptly navigate the health sector and political realms consistently charting an ethical course through extreme complexity to reach public health goals.

My time working with Dr. Akjemal changed my trajectory in many ways. She managed the WHO country office in Oman at the time and I worked with her as a technical officer and then as a consultant. As a leader she focused not only on the deliverables, which she ensured were timely and of a high quality, but also took the time to mentor me as a human being. She deeply understood the challenges of being a woman in a leadership position in the Middle East and her advice to me was compassionate, pragmatic and valuable. Her commitment to transparency in addition to the thought leadership space created a stimulating environment where in spite of the many bureaucratic pressures the WHO office has it also became a place to think deeply about how to best create excellence oriented healthcare systems and support universal healthcare for all. I think anybody who has a chance to work with her would be very lucky as she is inspiring, knowledgeable, honest and brilliant. I would jump at the chance to collaborate with her on anything at all.

I had the honour and privilege of working closely with Dr Akjemal Magtymova in Yemen, and I can confidently say that she is one of the most inspiring leaders I’ve ever worked with. Dr. Akjemal’s incredible dedication, great stamina, and strong passion for her work have always been a source of inspiration for me.

What impressed me most was her ability to support her team while pushing for adopting creativity, encouraging innovative solutions and welcoming new ideas with an open mind. Working with Dr. Akjemal was a true pleasure, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have learned from her. As a communication specialist, her sharp attention to detail helped me improve my work, making the communication and media projects more impactful. Her feedback was always useful and supportive. I truly hope to work with her again soon.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Akjemal in 2013 while I was posted in the Maldives with UNOPS setting up a transparent procurement process for medicines and medical equipment. I was impressed on how Dr. Akjemal managed to advocate the benefits and importance of setting a new procurement system based on integrity and transparency. The procurement process evaluation showed overpayment and several leakages on the system. For this experience and her continuous strength in managing her office, I highly recommend her.
